Oscar van Leer focussed the Foundation on young children in the mid-1960s. He was inspired by the idea that making small changes early in someone’s life could dramatically change their future. As a businessman, Oscar also felt that investing in young children was a compelling value proposition – one that set the basis for healthy, creative and peaceful societies.

Today, the Foundation continues its work around the world to improve the health and well-being of babies, toddlers and the people who care for them. It aims to inspire and inform large scale action by providing a combination of financial support and expertise to help partners in government, civil society and business test and scale services for young children and families.
